Whole class will discuss answers to the questions and clarify misunderstands and different correct answers. Students will apply suffixes to build new words and differentiate their meanings. Students will discuss and learn story elements. Construct a double bubble comparing this story to First Day Jitters focusing on differences between fiction and nonfiction stories.
Math: Students use base-ten blocks to investigate the various ways 111 can be represented. Students investigate and describe 999 using base-ten blocks, pictorials, and words, including standard form and expanded notation. Students investigate and describe numbers through the hundred thousand place using base-ten blocks, pictorials, and words, including standard form and expanded notation. Students investigate place value representations and its connection to dollar values using concrete models, pictorials, and words. Identify a real-life situation that involves five numbers though the hundred thousands place (e.g., population of five cities, land areas of five states, etc.).
Language: Students will differentiate between statements and questions using Powerpoint on statements and commands.
Science: It's a Matter of Safety, about uses of equipment and safety rules of that activity.
Social Studies: Compass rose and directions. Map skills.
